Starting in May, 2019, the CRC Python module defaults to Python 3. If you are using code based on Python 2, we highly recommend moving to the 3.X branch of Python. Python 2 stopped being maintained in January of 2020. If you absolutely need Python 2, there is a Python 2 module for the time being.
May 21, 2019 · Here is some Python code. Basically you need to modify where your crc16 does start. Usually it's these two 0x0000 or 0xFFFF. Second thing is a polynomial. There are many, so if you are stuck and do not know, what polynomial you need to use. This should get you started on right path as the python code is actually very easy to port to node.js.

Introduction¶. The software in this package is a Python module for generating objects that compute the Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC). It includes a (optional) C extension for fast calculation, as well as a pure Python implementation.
The crc32() function shall compute a running Cyclic Redundancy Check checksum, as defined in ITU-T V.42. On entry, crc is the previous value for the checksum, and buf shall point to an array of len bytes of data to be added to this checksum. The crc32() function shall return the new checksum.
